Preferred programming: The Cockpit is a theatre of ideas and disruptive panache. We take great pride in the shows we create, produce, curate and support, whether they are plays, musicals, circus, dance pieces, installations, or something in between. Sometimes risky, often controversial, frequently left of centre, but always hand picked and a conversation starter. And more often than not, a piece of work you won’t find anywhere else.

Configurations: Our flexible black box can accommodate shows in thrust, in the round, in traverse, or even without seating at all. The one thing that doesn’t work so well is end-on proscenium staging, as this reduces the audience capacity and doesn’t make the best use of our space.

Audience capacity: 170 seats in thrust, 220 in the round, 120 in traverse.

Stage floor size/width: 6.6m

The Cockpit also programmes festival shows at Camden Fringe in August, and at Voila! in November. Calls for applications for both festivals open in March each year.
